Why are my listings not being created on eBay for my ChannelApe products

So you installed the eBay channel but are having some trouble getting your ChannelApe products to show as listings within eBay. No problem we can help with that. Following are some tips, tricks, and gotchas to consider when pushing products to eBay.

  • Did you grant the appropriate permissions to your channel?

    • Read Products – Allows ChannelApe to view any listings you currently have on eBay. Required for any eBay actions to complete successfully.
    • Create Products – Allows ChannelApe to create a listing on eBay for each ChannelApe variant you are pushing.
    • Update Products –  Allows ChannelApe to update the corresponding listing on eBay for each ChannelApe variant you are pushing.
      • Fields – ChannelApe will not update any field you have deselected here.
      • Blocked Search Filters – When Update Products is selected but Delete Products is not selected then any eBay listings matched by your Blocked Search Filters will be updated with an available quantity of 0.
    • Delete Products – Allows ChannelApe to delete a listing on eBay for each ChannelApe variant matched by your Blocked Search Filters.
  • Is your default fulfillment policy for your eBay marketplace preventing your listing from being created?
    • Some fulfillment policies which calculate shipping based on weight restrict which items you can list. In order to create more listings you might need to change your default fulfillment policy to something less restrictive.
      • Calculated USPS First Class enforces that each listing has a weight greater than 0 but less than 1 pound.
    • You can read more about business policies here.
  • Did your eBay product push action result in an error on your Actions Dashboard?
    • Your eBay credentials may be invalid. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the channel so ChannelApe authenticates with your eBay account again.
    • Ensure that you Read Products is enabled in your Channel Settings (see permissions section above for more information).
  • Do your missing eBay listings have SKUs in ChannelApe?
    • eBay requires a unique SKU for each listing. Please ensure the ChannelApe variants you are pushing have SKUs. ChannelApe variants without SKUs will be omitted from your product push.
  • Have you exceeded the number of items that you can list this month?
    • Manually reduce the number of active listings within eBay.
    • Modify your filters within ChannelApe to decrease the available quantity of your items.
    • Contact eBay to request a higher account limit.

  • Have you exceed the number of items you can list in a particular category this month?
    • Manually reduce the number of active listings within eBay.

  • Did you select a leaf category when choosing a category modifier on your eBay settings page?
    • eBay will not create a listing if a category with children is chosen. You need to select a category without any children (furthest down on the tree).
    • For example in the image below, Energy Bars, Shakes & Drinks is a leaf category and should be a proper category to put your listings in. However Vitamins & Dietary Supplements would not be a suitable category because it contains children. eBay wants you to be as specific as possible with your categorization.
