Amazon Fulfillment Latency, otherwise known as handling time, specifies the number of days you have to ship out an order before Amazon considers it late.
Amazon Fulfillment Latency, otherwise known as handling time, specifies the number of days you have to ship out an order before Amazon considers it late. This is super important and has caused numerous headaches for Amazon re-sellers since this is set to 1-2 business days by default.
Amazon’s Fulfillment Time can not only affect the status of your account but also affects your listings. Of course, Amazon strives to give their customers the best experience and it would make sense that a listing with a fulfillment time of 1-2 days would get priority and the buy box over a listing with a fulfillment time of 14 days.
Of course, if you are selling handmade or personalized items which take time to produce, setting the expectation up front for the customer will allow for a better experience and reduce negative feedback and canceled orders. Take note, the maximum setting for handling time is 30 days. After 30 days an open order is canceled by Amazon and the customer will be refunded.
Expecting a huge surge in orders and a delay in fulfilling them, it is best to change the fulfillment time before orders start piling up and your orders are now late and account metrics take a nosedive. Take note of holidays like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, or Amazon Prime Day.
Are you a Drop-Shipper and rely on others to fulfill your orders? Might be a good idea to add a little buffer just in case your shipper isn’t as reliable as you would like them to be.
