Upselling is  a business term that describes a sales technique where you induce a buyer to purchase more expensive items, upgrades or add ons in addition to the items they are currently purchasing. The first phrase that comes to mind to describe upselling is when a fast food restaurant asks, "Would you like fries with that ?"
